Classic Horsemanship for the Gaited Horse - Volume 2 by Morgan Rhoads

Classic Horsemanship for the Gaited Horse - Volume 2
Morgan Rhoads

In this DVD, Morgan walks us through the process of developing proper gait in our horses. We discuss what affects gait and what we can do about it. We follow the development of young horses in Phase I and Phase II of proper gait training. We also work with correcting and refining gait as we work with horses on the trotty side of the gait spectrum.

The principles and techniques taught in this DVD apply to all breeds of easy-gaited horses.

Morgan Rhoads was literally born into the Gaited Horse industry, the son of renowned, west coast Tennessee Walking Horse trainer, Ray Rhoads. He began helping his father start colts at an early age and went on to train and exhibit a long list of champions at the major west coast horse shows through the 1960's, 70's and early 80's. He began his professional career by exhibiting a Walking Pony by Merry Go Boy at the very first Tennessee Walking Horse California Celebration in 1963. One year, in the 1970's Morgan won the Stake Class at the Indio Date Festival the same night Ray Rhoads won the Tennessee Walking Horse Championship in Phoenix, Arizona, a unique accomplishment for father and son.

In a west coast show career that spanned three decades, Morgan Rhoads won many classes and championships, and some of the top horses that he has worked with over the years include, Chief Blu Boy, Delight's Superstar, Special Sonata, Sundust's Lacy, and A Touch Of Class. He culminated his west coast career by winning the Two-Year Old Flat-Shod California Futurity in the 1980's on a colt by Delight's Superstar. Morgan later moved to Nashville to write songs but never lost his love for gaited horses or his passion to do something about the injustice so many of them suffer. In 2002, he wrote and published, under the pseudonym Eugene Davis, the fact-filled novel, From The Horse's Mouth, which exposes the abusive side of the industry. Over the years, Morgan has worked with American Saddlebreds, Quarter Horses, Rocky Mountain Horses, Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horses, Mountain Pleasure Horses, Missouri Foxtrotters, Arabians, Morgans, and Warmbloods and is once again concentrating on Gaited Horses. Since moving to Colorado, his talent for working with TWH's and the Mountain Horse breeds has placed his training, lessons, and clinics in high demand.
